Hello!

I'm Audrey. I've been in the healthcare space for over 20 years now. When working as a physical therapist, I saw a lot of sick people. There's a saying that goes, "You can have one thousand problems in life until you have a health problem and then you only have one."  I unfortunately saw this with many patients, and wished for something different for my family and me, but initially chalked up most cases of poor health to "bad luck" and/or aging. Learning about epigenetics helped me realize it's not usually "bad genes" at play and that we are in control of so much of our health and how we age through diet and lifestyle choices. My goal for my family and me to enjoy optimal health while aging through all seasons of life led me to take action to become certified in functional health. Now, I have knowledge and tools to help make it happen. (So we can continue, as seen here, to be vibrant, goofy, and happy.)

I would love to help others achieve their health goals as well. After all, each of us has only one life to live. And when you don't feel well, you can't make the most of it. So let's not wait until it's too late. Let's do something about it!

My Credentials:
-Licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT)
-Certified Functional Diagnostic Nutritionist Practitioner (FDN-P)

Behind the name:

Functional Diagnostic:  Assessing whole-body function is vital to true healing.  Each system is interconnected and when an area isn't functioning well, it affects how other areas function and hence, the overall wellness of the body.  We can use functional labs to assess for dysfunction in the main systems:  hormones, immune system, digestion, gut health, detoxification, nervous system, oxidative stress and energy production.

Nutritionist:  Having the right nutrition is the key to improving overall health. W
hen healing, our body may have different food and nutrient needs than it normally would. Or, due to genetics, our body may have different nutrient requirements to properly function. Knowing what your body needs to function optimally is important and something I can walk through with you.

What we eat and drink is what builds and fuels the trillions of cells that make up our bodies and feeds the trillions of microorganisms in our guts. When eating the wrong things or living a lifestyle that results in compromised digestion, the body doesn't have the nourishment it needs to build healthy cells, and we end up feeding the "bad guys," starving out the good guys in the gut. Our whole health is very much reliant upon the health of our cells and the beneficial gut microbes.  (Learn more here.)

Nutrition is 80% of the health equation. The other 20% is a combination of lifestyle and environmental factors (and genetics) which we also address.

FDNs believe the body has an innate intelligence toward health and homeostasis (balance). We can bring the body into its desired state of balance by uncovering obstacles to healing and addressing them holistically.

Healing doesn't happen overnight, is often not a linear process, and can at times be discouraging, so having someone to guide and coach during the journey is imperative for success. The final piece is that the plan must be sustainable so it can successfully continue once the coaching ends.
